01Who we are
Unwind is a creative journaling app operated by Null Machine, based in India (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This policy covers this website and the current Unwind app preview. Contact us about personal information at [email protected].
The current preview works with a journal stored on your device. Accounts, cloud sync, circles, hosted shared links, and purchases are not currently offered as live services. Before making those services available, we will update this policy to explain their data handling and provide any required notices and choices.
02Your journal & preferences
The app stores information on your device so you can create, revisit, and organize your book. Depending on what you use, this includes:
- Journal content: writing, drawings, selected photos, scanned pages, drafts, sealed notes, dates, tags, and favourites.
- Your choices: profile details you enter, your avatar, goals, appearance, accessibility preferences, and reminder settings.
- Your activity: mood selections, completed prompts, bookmarks, session duration, and listening progress.
This information supports the features you choose. In the current local preview, your journal is not automatically sent to Null Machine. Your device’s backup or transfer settings may still copy app data through services you control.
03Device permissions
You can use the journal without enabling every permission. The app asks for access when a feature needs it:
- Camera and photos: to photograph a page, add an image you select, or save an export. Imported photos are copied into app storage; the app removes photo metadata from its normalized journal image. Your original photo is not changed.
- Notifications: to schedule the local reminders you choose.
- Device authentication: to unlock the journal with supported Face ID, fingerprint, or device passcode authentication. Your operating system handles this check. Unwind does not receive your biometric template or passcode.
You can change permissions in your device’s Settings. Turning a permission off stops future access through that permission; it does not remove content you have already saved.
04Website & support
When you visit this website
This website has no account registration or advertising trackers. Its prompt search, breathing timer, and appearance preview run in your browser without saving your inputs. Fonts, images, video, and audio are served with the site.
The public website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes technical request information, including IP addresses and information about network traffic, to deliver and protect the website. Its infrastructure may process information outside India. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy for its processing and retention practices. We do not use this request information to build advertising profiles.
On unwind.nullmachine.in, Cloudflare Web Analytics measures page views, visitor counts, and page-loading performance. Cloudflare describes this service as using neither cookies nor browser storage to track visitors, and not fingerprinting visitors. Read Cloudflare’s analytics privacy explanation for details. This website analytics service does not receive your journal entries from the app.
Cloudflare also runs browser security checks. These may set essential cookies, such as cf_clearance, to remember a successful check and help distinguish legitimate visitors from automated traffic. These security cookies serve a different purpose from website analytics. See Cloudflare’s cookie information for details. You can manage cookies through your browser; blocking security cookies may lead to additional checks or prevent access.
When this website is run as a local preview, its server records the connecting address, request time, requested path, and response status to help diagnose errors. Those requests go to the computer running the preview.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond, troubleshoot, and handle your request. Please include only the information needed to help; you do not need to send private journal pages.
If a connected in-app feedback service is made available, its submission screen will explain what is sent. Optional diagnostics may include device model, operating system, and app version. The current preview does not operate a live feedback backend.
06Retention & deletion
Your local journal remains on your device until you remove its content, erase the local book, or remove app data. You can export your book and use Settings → Privacy & your pages → Erase this phone’s book to remove the app’s local journal content and associated app-owned media.
Local erasure does not delete original photos in your photo library, exports saved elsewhere, copies held by recipients, or device backups. Manage those copies in the relevant app or backup service. Uninstalling the app may remove local data, so export anything you want to keep first.
Support correspondence and technical logs we hold are kept for the time needed to address requests, diagnose issues, and meet applicable legal obligations. Cloudflare manages hosting-related information under the retention practices in its policy linked above. A local preview server has no automatic log-expiry schedule; its operator clears its logs. You can ask us to delete personal information we hold by emailing the contact below, subject to any information we must retain by law.
07Keeping your book safe
Unwind uses the device’s app storage and offers a journal lock with operating-system authentication. A journal lock or sealed-note feature is an access control, not a promise that journal files are separately encrypted or protected from every form of device access.
Keep your device software updated, use a device passcode, and consider who can access your device, backups, and exports. No storage or transmission method can guarantee complete security. We cannot recover a journal that existed only on a device and has been lost or erased.
08Your choices & rights
You can edit your local profile, delete journal content, export your book, turn off reminders, and revoke device permissions. These controls apply directly to information on your device.
For personal information held by Null Machine, contact [email protected] to request access, correction, deletion, or to raise a privacy concern. Where applicable law provides additional rights, including withdrawal of consent or a complaint to a competent authority, those rights remain available to you.
We may need information to verify that a request relates to you. We will explain any information we cannot provide or delete and respond within the period required by applicable law. Withdrawing permission or consent may prevent the feature that depends on it from working.
09Children’s privacy
The current preview does not offer child accounts, age verification, or a parental-consent service. Where applicable law requires a parent or guardian’s authorization, it must be obtained before a child sends personal information to us. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent us personal information can contact us to request its review or deletion.
10Changes & contact
We may update this policy as Unwind changes. The date at the top identifies the latest version. For material changes to how personal information is handled, we will provide an appropriate notice and request consent when required before applying the change.
